St. John's by the Campus Episcopal Church is Hiring a Childcare Provider Near Ames, IA

Who we are:

St. John’s by the Campus is an Episcopal church and student center located in the heart of Campustown with deep and longstanding ties to the area. We are a welcoming and inclusive parish striving to bring joy, fellowship, and community to our neighbors and the city of Ames as a whole.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for individuals with a love of children who would enjoy spending a few hours on Sundays caring for our smallest community members in the Church nursery during services. This will include preparing the nursery—tidying, ensuring supplies/materials are well-stocked, and generally making it a welcoming environment—as well as supervising children ranging from 0-9 either with their parents in attendance or without. While the childcare program is currently somewhat small, we are looking to grow that over the course of the next year to be a more robust offering for our community and so there are significant opportunities to contribute to that program development if that is of interest.

Our Child Care providers will work approximately 3 hours on Sundays during our second service, approximately 8:45am-11:30pm on a flexible, rotating schedule. In addition, there are occasional opportunities during the week when we have special services.

This role is currently scheduled for Summer 2024 only with the possibility of extending into the autumn and beyond.

If you are passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their lives, we would love to hear from you.

Our work environment includes:

  • A fantastic coffee hour after service
  • Casual work attire
  • Supportive Church employees, volunteers, and members
  • Growth opportunities
  • On-the-job training
  • Relaxed but energized work atmosphere

Requirements of Employment:

  • Pass a State of Iowa background records check
  • Formal experience as a care provider (preferred)
  • No religious training is required however, all faith based experience is helpful
